Of course it will tell you that it has revolutionised digital marketing; and that may be the case but it is just that, a tool. At the moment, until all business owners and purchasing departments are replaced by robots, people still buy from people. That is where truly effective marketing comes in. Understanding the complexities and psychology behind the customer decision making process is vital. Humans are irrational, non linear and rely heavily on ‘hot’ information from family and friends. Human brains use ‘heuristics’ meaning they take, sometimes ineffective, short cuts. Words used in communications or social media comments are often not to be taken at face value. As sarcasm laden northerners, we understand that ‘Wow, fantastic’ may have the absolute opposite meaning in practice, but AI can fall short on these nuances.
For us, AI presents a challenge. Whilst it may free up some time for basic content writing, the output from AI can be standardised, lack personality, and fail to provide the human element. The data is all well and good but the human analysis and interpretation of that comes from experience and cannot be fully replaced…yet.
